REVIEW: Tony Moly Homeless Strawberry Nose Pack

This is my second Tony Moly Review, and this time it’s a product which I just happened to stumble upon, adored the packaging, and bought regardless of the properties they claim to have. They promise to “take care of pore impurities and blackhead cleanly”. I’d never really believed these things work, but I thought, hey, what have I got to lose for £2?

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the brand, Tony Moly is a South Korean company which sells a range of beauty products. They claim to offer products for all skin types. I adored the first product of their I had tried, which was the green appletox peeling cream. It gave instant results, so I expected the same from this one. Again, I couldn’t find this nose pack in any local shops, so I resorted to buying from an Ebay shop.

The pack arrived (along with a few free samples which I will be reviewing soon), and I instantly fell in love with it. The adorable, kawaii packaging appealed to the little girl in me instantly!

Instructions

STEP 1: After cleansing, fit step one to the nose tightly and remove after 15-20 minutes.

STEP 2: Soak around the nose and remove transparent film of step two pack with dry hands. Fit to the nose tightly. After 10-15 minutes, when nose pack dries completely, remove from the edge slowly

STEP 3: After step two nose pack, remove white film of step three and fit to cared area. Remove after 5-10 minutes and pat the remainder essence for absorption.

And here is what each step is supposed to achieve:

STEP 1: Removes sebum and blackhead in pores
STEP 2: A peel-off strip that absorb dirt and oil to reduce the appearance of pores and blackheads.
STEP 3: Pacifies cleared pore areas

Simple enough, right? So I washed my face, ripped the packet open with anticipation, and applied step one. As i mentioned, I’m completely new to this type of product, so I struggled to get the strip onto my nose in the correct position. Finally, I managed it (I think), but as soon as I began moving around it peeled off. I imagine it would’ve been completely fine had I relaxed and kept my face in one position, but I didn’t. So unfortunately, it gave up any hope of staying stuck on after around 10 minutes. Also, there was a lot of the essence still in the packet, so try not to spill it. I didn’t see any instant results after this step.

The second step was far easier. It became hard around my nose as it dried over the 15 minutes I waited. As I peeled it off, I noticed tiny spike-like bits clinging to the strip. All I can assume is that my pores were deep and filled with all sorts of muck. Ew! I was amazed at how much of it there was. Luckily for you, I didn’t take a photo. But just take my word for it, it wasn’t a pleasant sight.

The third step was of a jelly consistency. If I thought the first step was difficult to keep on my nose, this one was near impossible! I actually had to lay down for it to stay on my nose for 5 minutes. I then took it off, rubbed the essence into my face, and grabbed a mirror to examine my face.

Results

Similar to my experience with the appletox product, although I couldn’t really see much of a noticeable difference in appearance, my nose felt so much better. Before, the skin all around my nose was covered in tiny bumps which caused my make-up to catch and look patchy. I had assumed it was dead or dry skin and accepted it would probably stay that way. But now, I was amazed to find them all gone! Each strip had a yummy strawberry scent, which I loved. My blackheads were certainly still there, as you can see, but I was still more than happy with the results. Best of all, despite always having dry skin around the area, it did not irritate my skin at all.

Pros

  • Lovely scent
  • Cheap
  • Adorable packaging
  • Unblocks pores
  • Safe for all skin types
  • Clear instructions

Cons

  • Difficult to source in the UK
  • Does not stay on face very easily

Unfortunately, the ingredients were in what I assume to be Korean, and I could not find an English version anywhere online. If you have dermatitis, eczema or the like, perhaps think carefully about using this product because it is clearly scented. All I can say is that about 75% of facial products I try irritate my skin to some degree, yet this mask did not cause any discomfort at all.

Conclusion

I’m not entirely convinced that the first or third steps made much of a difference, but the second one certainly did. My nose was left feeling fresh and clean. The results were far better than I’d have imagined. Could I find a cheaper version of this product? Possibly. Will I? Probably not. I like the packaging, I like the fact that you have three steps which make it more interesting, and I love the smell. For me, £2 is definitely worth it. The strips may cause you to look like a Baywatch star who has applied far too much suncream, but I can guarantee that you will feel better for it.
