Whether you’re trying to use up some pieces of spare clay, or you just want to make something a bit different, this tutorial perfect for beginners and can be made in any colours to match your outfits! My favourite part about this ring is that it’ll be completely original and will leave people asking, “where did you get it?!”
What you’ll need:
- Polymer clay in your colours of choice (I used gold, silver and turquoise)
- Cutting tool
- A plain ring
- Glue gun and glue sticks
- Clay varnish
Take your clay and roll it all together. Don’t blend the colours too much, just twist it up until it looks similar to this. Roll into a ball.
Use your cutting tool to cut diagonally from the top. You can cut it into any shape you like, but I went for a kind of half diamond shape. You want the edges to be quite prominent. Hold it up against the ring to check that it will fit.
Bake in the oven until hard. It should take around 10 minutes on gas mark 4, but check it frequently so that it doesn’t burn. Once cooled, varnish it!
Use your glue gun to stick the “gem” onto the plain ring. Once it has dried, make sure it feels secure and will not fall off easily.
Show your lovely new ring to everyone you see. Yay!
