I’ve been looking forward to trying these little beauts out for a while. I saw similar studs sold in the lovely Topshop and wondered whether I could create something just as cute and edgy!
I’m not putting Topshop down at all- I adore their jewelry, and their beautiful designs simply inspired me to experiment with similar shapes, yet using completely different materials! I love wearing my own creations and having people ask, “wow, where did you buy that?”
It’s incredibly easy, and perfect if you need some last-minute accessories to match your outfit! Let’s get crafting!
What you’ll need:
- All purpose glue OR a glue gun with glue sticks
- Clear/silver rhinestones
- Dotting tool
- Rolling tool
- Cutting tool
- Plain studs
- Silver polymer clay
- Varnish
- Paintbrush
Step 1:
Grab a chunk of clay and condition it until it’s nice and soft. This just makes it easier to work with.
Step 2:
Roll your clay out, making sure it isn’t tool thick, but not floppy.
Step 3:
Cut out an arrow shape similar to the photo above.
Step 4:
Roll out some more clay of the same thickness, place your arrow on top and cut out a duplicate. Use your dotting tool to tidy up the edges. Bake them until hard, for around 15 minutes on gas mark 4.
Step 5:
Begin to add glue and apply the rhinestones, leaving a slight space around the edges so you can see the silver clay. Place your rhinestones very close together. You want them as symmetrical as possible, but don’t fuss around with it too much- just make sure they appear relatively tidy!
Step 6:
Once your arrows are pretty much covered and the glue is dry, varnish them all over.
Step 7:
Glue your studs onto the back of the arrows. Don’t worry if it’s a bit messy (like mine)- nobody will see it.
Step 8:
Leave to dry completely, and enjoy!
I personally love to pair these with a cute floral top and a faux leather jacket! I hope you like yours.
