Anyone who has read any of my previous cosmetic reviews will know that I’m a sucker for pretty packaging. I went on a little spending spree on the weekend and among other bits and pieces, I saw this shampoo with its funky colours and chucked it in the basket. For £1.00 (Savers) you can’t really go wrong, right? I should probably note that I’ve seen this shampoo going for £9 or more online, so I have no idea what the average price is.
On the Samy website they claim that this product will, “create body and density in the hair. Its fiber network provides volume, lift, and support for the hair with no heavy buildup or residue. This lightweight formula is great for all hair types.” Well, of course I had to try it out.
The shampoo smells beautiful! It is kind of like a mixture between tropical fruit and gummy sweets. It’s pretty strong and the scent seemed to stay in my hair long after I’d washed it out. The consistency is okay- not overly runny, and it lathers up nicely to cover all of your hair.
I hate to say it, but as soon as I began to brush through my hair afterwards, I could feel that it was far drier than usual. In fact, I struggled to get a brush through it because it has all matted together. I know, ew!
Eventually, I did manage to brush it through and I styled it as usual. So, were there any positive results?
Well, technically my hair was more voluminous, but I’m about 90% sure that was due to the fact that I had to force my hairbrush through, causing it to become frizzy. Perhaps it’s because my hair is already fairly damaged from bleaching etc and this product simply did not agree with it, but it does say that it is suitable for all hair types.
- Pretty, artsy labelling
- Smells lovely
- Easily sourced in the UK
- Easy to use
- Dries out hair
- I did not see any impressive results
I’ll be honest here- after purchasing this hair product I researched the brand and the shampoo itself, and was delighted to see hundreds of positive reviews. I was expecting something magnificent from this one, but I was disappointed. As I said before, perhaps it didn’t agree with my hair type. But in all honesty, I would not recommend this shampoo to anyone and I would certainly not buy it again myself. I don’t fancy spending another twenty minutes of my life hacking my hairbrush through my poor hair!
